Plus Size Clothing Review: Stitch Shoppe by Loungefly

Disney magic makes me happy. And I love wearing what makes me happy. It is only natural then, that so many of my outfits feature a little bit (or a lotta bit) of Disney. Over the last few years, I have been able to find great Plus Size Disney clothing at Torrid, Hot Topic, and ShopDisney. However, I am always looking for something new and unique, especially if it features my favorite films with a vintage twist. Enter the new Stitch Shoppe by Loungefly collection.

That’s right… Loungefly, the company that creates amazing fandom bags and accessories… has entered into the wearable fashion game. EVERYTHING. IS. GORGEOUS. The best part? Every item in the collection is available in sizes S-4X. In fact, the company actually said they considered this collection with the idea that the average American woman is size 14 and up. (A BIG win for girls in the Plus Size category!)

The Stitch Shoppe collection debuted on June 20 with a capsule of skirts, tops, and dresses featuring Minnie Mouse, Pixar’s Up, and three Disney Princesses. The products range in price from $30-125, which is comparable to prices from ShopDisney. Each item features high-quality fabric, luxe details, and flattering vintage inspired silhouettes. And each item comes with an enamel collector’s pin that matches the theme of the pattern.

I couldn’t wait to try on some of the collection. I decided to pick out one dress and one top to start with… though I would have loved to buy every single thing. Since I felt I was between a size 3X and a 4X, I decided to purchase in the larger size. (Typically I wear a size 22/24.) In the future, I will definitely select the smaller size instead. The dress fit a little large overall, especially in the arm holes.

The first item I ordered was the Snow White Print “Olivia” Dress. The dress retails for $125. It is an adorable butter yellow, belted fit and flare dress with pockets. The print features dwarves, Snow White, and cute little forest animals. This dress features satin trim around the neckline, a delicate red bow, and hidden embroidery on the back.

I LOVE this dress and wanted to twirl in it all day long. Sadly, it is just a couple of inches too short for my comfort, especially with the flared skirt. I would be afraid of flashing people all day and would need to wear leggings with it. Definitely not the aesthetic I was going for. That paired with the slightly baggy top means this will be going back. (Sniff… I really did want to love it.)

The other item I ordered was the Up Adventure “Dizzy” Top, which retails for $35. This shirt is absolutely beautiful and fits like a dream. It has a flattering, off the shoulder neckline and is not too tight through the waist. It features the quote “Adventure is out there” and a little pink balloon embroidered at the neckline. Loungefly offered several Up themed items to pair with the shirt… since this is one of my all-time favorite films, I already have a couple of Up dresses. I decided to pair the shirt with a cute tutu and stylish sneakers. This is definitely a keeper for me!

One of the best things about the Stitch Shoppe is that Loungefly is being extremely attentive to customer feedback. Based on customer responses, they have already agreed to expand the size range to include XS in the next collection. They also said that they are going to add a bit of length to the dresses too. (I am really excited about that!) Future collections will include menswear and more Disney characters. I’m hoping to see a Rapunzel themed dress, maybe throw some love to Wall-E and Baymax too. Plus, I am excited to see if they do anything special for Halloween and Christmas.

The Stitch Shoppe Collection can be found now, directly on Loungefly.com or on Unique Vintage, as well. Check it out and bring some magic to your wardrobe!
