Celebrate Your Birthday… All Month Long

I know some people don’t really make that big of a deal about their birthday. Others would rather pretend the day isn’t happening at all. I am not one of those people. In fact, I want my birthday to be a grand event where people treat me like I am special all day long. Heck… all month long.

Yeah, I know that makes me sound vain as a peacock, but hear me out… Your birthday is the one day of the year that you are totally allowed to shine the spotlight on yourself. My family has always had this habit of declaring, “It’s my birthday, all day today. Now it’s all about me.” Perhaps I take this a bit further than most of my family members, wearing a glam outfit and having a “treat yo self” attitude all day long, but I digress.

As a consumer, you are given the power to extend your birthday celebration to the entire month. Most stores and restaurants have a loyalty program. While you do receive a lot of emails and texts from those businesses, you also get a lot of great perks. Alerts about sales and promotions are only part of it. Many of these programs offer exclusives for your birthday month, including deep discounts and FREE gifts. My husband and I sign up for pretty much every loyalty program at places we frequent. We like saving money… and free things.

As the calendar has turned to November, and my birthday is fast approaching, I have received a lot of promo emails. I wanted to share some of the exciting things that I plan to treat myself to this month.

Beauty Gifts and Discounts: Honestly, these are probably the best birthday promotions available. Many beauty brands offer fantastic deluxe samples and free product during your birthday month.

Sephora: Each year Sephora collaborates with a premium beauty brand to create an exclusive birthday gift that can be picked up during your birthday month with a Sephora Insider card. In the past, gifts have ranged from deluxe samples of lipstick and mascara to body wash and skincare. The samples are always a great way to try new products.

The Body Shop: Being a member of the Love Your Body Club gives you a $10 reward to spend in the store during the month. (I love that I can pick up some of the beautiful holiday items with mine!)

Ulta Beauty: As a member of their Ultamate Rewards program, customers receive a special deluxe product sample. Each month offers a different sample. Plus, you earn 2X points on all purchases made during the month. And, as a Platinum Member, I also receive a $10 reward to spend during the month.

Bare Minerals: The Friends and Benefits program offers an exclusive birthday gift each year with deluxe samples. This year’s gift is a travel mascara and blush… perfect to toss in your bag for on the go touch ups.

Style Discounts: There are lots of birthday discounts to be found at both fashion and lifestyle retailers. Most of these involve a percentage discount, though some are also a monetary amount. Either way, these are great ways to treat yourself to something you have been eyeing at a fraction of the cost. Here are some of the discounts I have received this month.

Food and Beverage Discounts: And of course, lots of restaurants want to give you a special treat… especially if you bring some friends along to celebrate too. Since restaurants are regional, many of these discounts may not apply to you… but here’s who I have heard from this month.
