I realized the other day… it has been a hot minute since I have posted on the blog. I suppose the winter doldrums have been kicking me in the butt. It’s always gloomy and uninspiring. Plus, with so many Snow Days, I have been living in sweats since Christmas and feel quite unfashionable. I desperately need some sunshine and spring flowers to inspire me. Thankfully, that silly old groundhog said spring was coming early this year, and I hope he’s right!
As the temperatures rise, and I have more reasons to dress up, I am on the hunt for some fun new pieces to add to my wardrobe. My body has changed. My style POV has changed. Trends have changed. However, there are some trends out there that do NOT work for me. Here’s a few I am hoping to see less of this year.
Mini-Dresses: I mean, I firmly believe that Plus Sized people have the right to show as much skin as they like… but I would also like to be able to bend over or sit down without showing my lady parts to the world. Way too many dresses boast a hemline of 36″ or less, which basically equates to a long shirt for me. Where have all the mid-length dresses gone? Please bring them back!

Cropped Shirts: This has been an especially big issue for me this winter. Cropped sweaters and sweatshirts? Please! My tummy is so cold. I would also like to be able to raise my arms without exposing my belly to my classroom. Stop making shirts that end at my waistline.
Anything I Can’t Wear Normal Undergarments With: So many tops and dresses are made with a wide, open neckline right now. The problem? A good plus sized bra that holds anything in place is rather full-coverage. I am so tired of pulling on my clothes all day to keep my bra from showing. And don’t get me started on strapless bras. NOTHING works!
“Inclusive Sizing” That Isn’t Inclusive: Lots of brands right now are priding themselves on expanding their size range to be more inclusive. Few of them are actually inclusive. Most only offer the extended sizes online. Many stop at a 16/18 or XXL. Some offer only a small handful of items in extended sizes, while offering a wide variety to straight sizes. And because American sizing is subjective, the size charts vary in ridiculous ways. I am begging the fashion industry to DO BETTER!
I hope that this spring and summer offer a lot of exciting new things that make me feel confident and fabulous in the body I am in right now. Maybe a brand will even be willing to take a chance on me as a Brand Ambassador again. I am ready to shop, to explore, and to advocate for the things that make everyone in every body feel fabulous!
