2020 Swimwear Preview: Amazon Wardrobe

I don’t know about you, but my screen time is increasing tenfold during Covid Quarantine. I am finding all sorts of things I didn’t know existed online. It’s like my freshman year of college when the internet was a baby. I spent all night in chat rooms and signed up for free jelly beans on the Jelly Belly website daily. It was a magical and innocent time. Ah, the 90’s…

A couple of weeks ago, while boredom surfing online, I discovered the beauty of Amazon Prime Wardrobe. As an Amazon Prime member, this service is included in your annual dues. Basically the way it works is, you are allowed to fill a box with up to eight items in their selected collection of clothing and shoes to try on at home. You are allowed to keep the items for a week and have free shipping to send back whatever you decide not to keep. You only pay for what you decide to keep. It’s very similar to Stitch Fix and other related companies, but you can choose what you want to order with Amazon. Easy peasy. They did have a surprising amount of Plus Size styles available in Prime Wardrobe. I have never ordered clothes on Amazon before (I have ordered shoes and had good luck), so I thought I would try it out with new swimwear.

The first suit I tried was the Bleu Rod Beattie Women’s Plus Size Skirted One-Piece. I was attracted to its rich plum color and criss-cross details on both the front and back of the suit. In person, the detailing was way too open for my taste. I mean, I don’t want to give away that much mystery about me on the beach. Waa waa.

Next was the Bleu Rod Beattie Women’s Plus-Size Striped High Neck Cross Back Mio One Piece. I love the color and design of the print. The belt is placed nicely on this suit, and the gold buckle is a pretty detail. I felt like the straps were just a little flimsy to support a Plus Size bust on this one. However, on some women, this would be an amazing suit.

The print of the La Blanca Women’s Plus Size Bandeau One Piece is vibrant and gorgeous. It’s like a beautiful pashmina print, with a contrasting crossed print down the side, which adds a slimming effect. It contains a tummy control panel and removable straps. Of the suits I tried from Amazon, this was definitely my favorite, and was the most affordable!

For the last two looks, I tried a solid black bottom and ordered a couple of different top pieces. The Leilani Women’s Plus Size High Waist Tummy Control Bikini Swim Bottom is incredibly high waisted and figure flattering. The fabric holds in your middle without feeling like it is cutting off your circulation. Honestly, I love these bottoms. They are secure, flattering, and have so much mix and match potential. The Kenneth Cole REACTION Women’s Plus Size High Neck Keyhole Halter Tankini (left) paired really nicely with the bottoms. I liked the fit of the high neckline, which made the suit feel secure overall. I just didn’t love the pattern in person. The Catalina Women’s Plus-Size Tiered Multi Ruffle Tankini was cute and I do love polka dots. Paired together, I just didn’t like how short it was compared to the high waist of the bottoms.

Overall, my experience with Prime Wardrobe was great. I am excited to explore the service more and try some new looks… especially while stuck inside for another month! Stay tuned for one more swimwear installment…
