Plus Size Clothing Review: JessaKae

I love a good mystery box! Many brands promote “Mystery Sales” as a way to draw in new customers and introduce them to their key products. Though the items included in these boxes tend to be sale items, you are able to try out the brand, often at a fraction of regular retail price. I love a good fashion gamble and enjoy trying styles that are new to me this way.

Recently, I happened upon the company, JessaKae, on Instagram. Based in Lehi, Utah, this woman-owned business sells effortlessly chic, romantic, uber feminine dresses with a vintage vibe. Many of the pieces in their collection have accompanying Mommy & Me styles to match your littles… if that is your thing. I was drawn in by how Instagram-friendly the dresses were. The designs are also size-inclusive (running from XS-5X) and modest enough that I can wear them to work without fear of being out of dress code.

When JessaKae advertised a Mystery Box sale, I knew this was my chance to try the brand for myself. For $150, customers received three different dresses in their chosen size. I appreciated that they asked for measurements to ensure that the styles they sent would match MY body type. I am normally a size 22/24 and ordered a 3X from JessaKae. Here’s what I got in my box…

The Gather Dress:

This dress will definitely be a go-to dress in autumn. Toss on a cardigan or denim jacket, some knee-high boots, and a cute hat… instant pumpkin patch outfit! The Gather Dress is a midi-length, tiered dress in olive gingham. The smocked bodice helps the dress accommodate many bust sizes, and the neckline is high enough that you can easily wear any undergarments with it. The dress is incredibly comfy and will be perfect for all sorts of fall gatherings. I am absolutely in love!

The Riverside Dress:

This dress definitely gave me Jane Austen and Bridgerton vibes. I wore it to afternoon tea, and felt perfectly suited to the environment. The Riverside is a textured white cotton dress with a delicate blue floral pattern. It can easily transition between seasons and occasions based on how it’s styled. The dress has a smocked bodice and puffed sleeves which are very feminine. The only drawback of this dress for me was the fitted style of the tiers. Though the dress fit fine, I think I would be a bit more comfortable in the next size up. I want it to feel a little more flowy. However, I can see myself wearing this dress to all sorts of Girls’ Day Out events… showers, winery days, and the like.

The Wandering Willoughby Dress:

This was my absolute favorite dress from the box! It is gauzy, breezy, and made me feel so pretty. The Wandering Willoughby is a chiffon dress with a smocked bodice and fluttery sleeves. The back features a pretty keyhole tie that levels up the dress with an extra feminine touch. It just made me want to twirl around in my yard and sing a happy song. The dress is offered in a ton of colors on JessaKae’s site. It would make a perfect bridesmaid dress! While it feels dressy and special, it’s extremely comfortable. I wore this one for Easter and will be wearing it for many special occasions in the future. Maybe I need it in a couple more colors?

Overall, I was absolutely thrilled with my first experience with JessaKae. The dresses seem to be made with very high quality components. I really appreciate how flatteringly each dress fit and how well I am covered in each piece. I would definitely recommend the brand, no matter what size you wear. The new Secret Garden Collection was just released and it is SO beautiful! I have my eye on several pieces.
